FLORENCE COWIE

In the early morning hours of Monday October 31st, 2016, Florence Mary Cowie passed away peacefully at Moose Jaw Pioneer Lodge following a short illness. She was 100 years old. In 1934 Florence met Ronald Cowie and they were subsequently married on March 10th, 1937. Together they raised three children, and farmed in the Mankota district for twenty-nine years. They then sold their farm and moved to Moose Jaw to retire. After Ronald passed on in 2000, and a brief stay in a condominium near Crescent Park, Florence was forced by impending blindness to move to a suite in the Mulberry Estates in Moose Jaw where she spent the remaining thirteen and a half years of her life. Family left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Beverley (David) Morley of Cranbrook, BC; son-in-law, Edward Keen of Moose Jaw; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Cowie of Prince Albert, SK; grandchildren: Kerry Keen, Leanne Keen, Colin Cowie, Craig Cowie, Heather Cowie, and Ian Cowie; Eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two special nephews and wives: Morley and Rita Munn, and Larry and Connie Fehr, both of Moose Jaw; two very special sisters, Joyce Fehr of Hodgeville, SK and Elaine (Mel) Cupples of Swift Current, SK. Florence was predeceased by her daughter, Sheila Elaine Keen in May 1994; husband, Ronald A. Cowie on July 1st, 2000; son, Douglas Wayne Cowie in April 2012; parents, John and Minnie Sabo; three brothers and four sisters. A Graveside Service in honour of Florence will be held on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery, followed at 3:00 p.m. by tea and luncheon at Moose Jaw Funeral Home, to which all friends and acquaintances are welcome. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Florence’s memory to the CNIB, 2550 Broad St, Regina, SK SP4 3Z4. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
