Anne Emily Heron
Anne Emily Heron (Lockert) passed away on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 at the age of 95 years. Anne was born on January 31st, 1923 at Vibank, SK. The family moved to Portland, Oregon, then later to Denzel, SK. Mom completed all her schooling at Denzel, then attended Normal School in Moose Jaw in 1942. She taught school at West Lake from 1943-1944. She married Alvin Heron in 1944 and farmed at Marquis for 23 years before moving to Moose Jaw in 1967. Mom worked at the Union Hospital as a ward clerk for 20 years. After retiring mom volunteered at the Union Hospital gift shop and Parson’s Pantry at St. Andrew’s Church. She was predeceased by her husband Alvin in 1970 and grandson in 1974, her parents Rosena and Casimir Lockhert; brothers, Mike, Casy, Ed, George, Tom, and Larry and sisters, Betty, Sister Patricia and Kaye. Mom is survived by son, Lorne (Mickey); daughter, Janice Hartley, and son, Stew (Lorraine). Grandchildren, Nicolle Whitehead (Todd), Keri Heron (Terry Blacklaws), Shawna Connolly, Tanya Connolly (Dave), Robyn Heron and Matt Heron (Jessie Bell). Great grandchildren, Dax and Rae Whitehead, Darian and Justin Gardner, Tre Blacklaws, Matt Connolly, and Christina Mattson. Also survived by her sister, Terry and brother, Pat (Elsie); sister in law, Gladys Towriss and Carol Lockert as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom loved her crocheting. She made many table cloths: the Last Supper, The Lord’s Prayer and many more. She also wrote a “Milk Free” cook book which she published and sold. A Celebration of Life to honor Anne will be held on Friday, December 21st, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorial donations in Anne’s name may be made to The Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital Aux. Inc. 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. The family would like to thank the staff of Prairie View at Pioneers Lodge for the wonderful care and all their acts of kindness towards mom during her stay. Lorne…sorry to read about your mom’s passing. She had a long life, to be fortunate to live 95 years is a privilege many people don’t get. In saying that it is hard to loose a mom… so final! Please accept our sincere sympathy at this time.
