Pearl Smith
Pearl Smith, aged 98 years of Eyebrow, SK, passed away on Friday, January 1st, 2016. Pearl was born on April 25th, 1917 to Robert and Emma Lightle of Brownlee, SK, where she grew up and went to school until July 1938. She then married Lloyd W. Smith, a farmer in the Ames district, where they farmed until 2006 and then retired to Moose Jaw, SK. After Lloyd passed away, Pearl moved to Arlington Beach to be with family. As her health declined, Pearl moved to the Last Mountain Pioneer Home in Strasbourg, where she resided until her passing. During her time as a wife she was always busy – raising three children, helping in the fields, and sewing, knitting and crocheting items for the grandchildren. Pearl was a member of the Free Methodist Church for many years, helping at Arlington Beach in its early years. Pearl and Lloyd enjoyed traveling to many countries and making friends along the way. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd; son, Phil; granddaughter, Nedra Lynn; great-grandchild, Devin; and sisters, Laura and Dorothy. Pearl will be sadly missed by her daughter, Lois (Gary); son, Roy (Sylvia); daughter-in-law, Regina; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elsie; sister-in-law, Evelyn; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pearl’s name may be made to Arlington Beach Camp, Box 15, Cymric, SK S0G 0Z0 or Last Mountain Pioneer Home, Box 549, Strasbourg, SK S0V 4V0.
