Darla Jean Cornish (née Lamb)
Darla Jean Cornish (née Lamb), aged 68 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Friday, October 20th, 2017. Darla was born January 14th, 1949 to William and Katherine Lamb in Moose Jaw. She was Valedictorian at Riverview High School, and received her teaching certificate from the University of Regina. Darla married Daniel on December 20th, 1968 and they raised one son, Garra. She was an educator, was valued and loved by her students, and taught at many of the local public schools in Moose Jaw, including the school at CFB Moose Jaw. An avid athlete in her youth, she continued to enjoy swimming and walking throughout most of her life. Darla was a committed member of the 1st Free Methodist Church and enjoyed singing and ministering with many friends and family members there, and elsewhere. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Katherine Lamb; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Ruth Cornish; sister, Kathy Claypool; brothers-in-law, Gary and Robert Cornish; sisters-in-law, Denise Cornish and Beverly Wolfe; and niece, Kimberly Cornish. Darla will be lovingly remembered by her devoted and loving husband, Daniel; son, Garra; brother, Ronald Lamb (Susan); brothers and sisters-in-law: David Wolfe, Barb Cornish, David (Barbara) Cornish, Brian (Marnelle) Cornish, Kathy (Jim) Kautz, Heather Cornish; William (Carolyn) Cornish, and Cindy (Jerry) Knelsen; her sister’s son, Brenden (Ivy) Claypool; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Volker Rininsland for the exceptionally kind and tireless care he provided for Darla, as well as the Five Hills Health Region and their coordinators, home care nurses and health aides who showed great compassion caring for Darla in her final months. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 29th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Free Methodist Church, 375 Hochelaga St W, Moose Jaw, SK. Reverend Dennis Camplin will officiate and interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery at a later date. A Time of Visitation for Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
