Iona Laura Essex (née Chubb)

It is with great sadness that the family of Iona Laura Essex (née Chubb) announces her passing on Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 at the Regina General Hospital, at the age of 60 years.  Iona was born in Assiniboia, SK on March 28th, 1956 to Hilda and Morley Chubb and moved to Moose Jaw in 1960.  She was predeceased by her parents, Hilda and Morley Chubb; and mother-in-law, Annie Essex.  Iona is survived by her loving husband, Harold Essex of Moose Jaw, SK; daughter, Ashley (Chris) of Borden, SK; son, R.J. (Janelle) of Saskatoon, SK; grandchildren: Tiana, Krysta, Eric, Kayla, Kyler, Kolby, Sierra, Scott, and Jordan; siblings: Dennis (Pat) Chubb of Saskatoon, SK, Lloyd (Janet) Chubb of Herbert, SK, Terry (Donna) Chubb of Swift Current, SK, Barb Newberry (Bob – deceased) of Moose Jaw, SK, Bill (Paulette) Chubb of Moose Jaw, SK, and Grant (Wendy) Chubb of Moose Jaw, SK; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.  Iona will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 6th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Iona’s name may be made to the Regina General Hospital MICU, 1400 – 14th Ave, Regina, SK S4P 0W5 or STARS Air Ambulance, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, SK S4W 1A3.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
