Murray Wayne Fleece
August 30th, 1945 – September 19th, 2018
Our hearts are heavy at Murray’s passing, from cancer, at the age of 73 years. Murray was born in Broadview, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his Mom, Celia (1981); Dad, Ealey (1992); and niece, Kristen (2004). Murray will be missed by his sisters, Lorraine and Sharon (Vern); brothers, Don (Jackie) and Allan; brothers-in-law, John (Faye) and David (Lynn); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Murray loved, and was lovingly cared for by his wife, Marian; son, Jason; and, daughter, Jana (Brock); and Papa will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren: Sawyer, Cedar, and Silvie. Murray devoted 41 years to carpentry skills training and program development at STI and SIAST. He chaired the first National Skills Canada Committee and served as a national judge in skills competitions across the country. Murray built three family homes and assisted friends in countless renovation projects, new builds and timely advice. He was a master craftsman and loved to share his knowledge and expertise. We all marveled at the speed at which he worked. Murray was a longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Parish. Our gratitude and thanks go out to the care providers at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, Home Care, Pioneer Lodge, and Moose Jaw EMS for their kind and caring service. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 28th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK with Reverend Rick Krofchek officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Murray’s memory to a charity of your choosing. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. My sincere condolences to Murray’s family. I knew Murray through the time we spent at the institute. He was always the consummate professional and a great colleague.
As I spent so much time in the Fleece house growing up, Murray was like one of my brothers. I am so saddened by his passing. I know he will be missed by Marian and their children and the whole Fleece family. I am especially saddened that because my mom’s funeral is the same day I cannot be there personally to celebrate his life. Know i will be thinking of him and all of you as well when we lay my mother to rest. God bless you.
Our sincere condolences Marian & Family. May memories of happy times together bring you comfort. Hugs & Prayers, Willis & Cheryl
Our sincerest sympathies to you and your famiy Jana. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
Occasionally we slow down and think about the champions that we have come in contact with over the years. Murray was one of those champions in every sense of the word! What a privilege it was to get to work with him. He is missed dearly and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
