Marguerite Maynard
Marguerite Maynard, cherished wife, mom and grandma, peacefully went to be with her Lord following a life well lived on Monday, March 6th, 2017 at her home in Pioneers Lodge in Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 94 years. Marguerite Maude Forge was born October 20th, 1922 in Bracebridge, Ontario, the 5th child of James and Minnie Forge. As a young girl, she moved with her family to a farm at Tilney, SK. Marguerite graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1943, training at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital. She went on to receive her degree in nursing at the University of Manitoba. In 1951, she married Alfred Maynard and transitioned from nursing to working side-by-side with him on their farm near Archydal, SK. In the years following, they raised 3 children: James, Cheryl and Norma Jean. They were active in Hillcrest Apostolic Church and the Gideons. Marguerite returned to nursing in 1967. With the birth of her first grandchild in 1979, Marguerite retired and began a new career as a Grandma. Upon retirement from the farm, Alf and Marguerite moved to Moose Jaw. They enjoyed numerous bus trips all over North America and hosting friends and family in their home. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 1998; and siblings: Frank (Ivy, Doris), Norman (Bette), Ralph (Hazel), and Dorothy (Robert) Francis. Marguerite is survived by her children: James (Patty) Maynard of Surrey, BC, Cheryl (Larry) Dyck of Kamloops, BC, and Norma Jean (Kelvan) Clarke of Moose Jaw, SK; grandchildren: Steven Dyck (Jeanni), Pam Davies (Brent), Tracey Maynard (Brent), Trent Maynard, Ashley Clarke, and Matt Clarke; as well as many nephews, nieces and friends. We would like to thank the staff at Pioneers Lodge for the excellent care provided. A Celebration of Marguerite’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 8th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.
