Josephine Larsen
The family of Josephine “Josie, Jo” Larsen announce with sorrow that she passed away from this earth on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, at the age of 89 years. Josephine spent most of her life living on the farm where she was born and raised with her brother, Vic Larsen, at Bridgeford, Saskatchewan. Her working life, which was “the best time in life”, extended well over the age of 65, and was mostly spent working for Dr. Mainprize and Dr. Iverson at the Central Butte Medical Clinic as receptionist and bookkeeper/office manager. When Jo was younger, she also worked in Rosetown, SK for a dentist and in Central Butte, SK for Ken Galloway at Galloway’s Pharmacy. Josephine also loved to jump on the tractor and bail for her brother Victor. She enjoyed a few holidays, mostly sticking close to home, but loved Kenosee, visiting relatives in Whitewood, and staying in a hotel in Moose Jaw with her niece, Trudy. Josie loved buying up real estate in Central Butte, and loved to visit all her houses and lots, but then wanted to go home to the farm and Victor. When Victor moved to private care in Central Butte, Jo moved to one of her houses in Central Butte and continued to drive out to the farm to feed her cats. When Jo was unable to live on her own, she moved to Chez Nous private care home in Moose Jaw where she received excellent care. When Jo’s mobility made it impossible for her to stay there, she moved to West Park Crossing and enjoyed great relationships with the staff there. Her last days were spent at Providence Place. Josie’s family would like to thank all her caregivers for the great care they provided.
She was predeceased by her parents, Laurits and Violet Larsen; all 7 siblings and their spouses: sisters, Ellen (Art Esmond) and Rose (Elmer Sjodin); brother, Archie (Vicki McCreary); sister, Freda (Len Manz and after his death Walter Jones); brother, Victor; sisters, Beatrice (Vic Mayer) and Alice (Gordon Magowan). She was also predeceased by her niece Sharon Radigh-Kobialko; nephews: Ron, Don, and Wayne Esmond, and Bruce Mayer; and great-nephews, Colin and Keith Langton. Josephine leaves to mourn several nieces and nephews.
