SHIRLEY JEAN EWEN
1934 – 2024
Shirley Jean Ewen (née: Hall) passed away peacefully on Monday, June 17th, 2024, at the Central Butte Regency Manor at the age of 89 years. Shirley, daughter of Charles and Annie Hall, was born September 6th, 1934, in Lucky Lake, SK. She was the 9th of 10 children and attended primary school in Sunkist, SK and finished school in Lucky Lake.
Shirley married Art Ewen on October 24th, 1953, in Lucky Lake, SK. They farmed north of Riverhurst, SK until moving to town in 1980.
Shirley enjoyed entertaining, dancing and was very musical. She played the organ, sang in the United Church Choir, and volunteered singing at Regency Manor. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge, taught Sunday school, volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary and the Riverhurst Tourism Committee. She loved doing all types of crafts and painting, as well as gardening – especially flowers. Shirley was an avid golfer for many years. The last time she golfed was in the fall of 2021. She loved her winters spent in Arizona (28 years) and all the friends they met over the years. She enjoyed her trips to New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Panama Canal, the Maritimes, and many other trips to different parts of Canada and the USA with Art by her side. She also loved living at their cabin in Palliser Park.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters: Margaret (Reynold), Irene (Jim), Grace (Elmer), Pearl (Elgin), Lilian (Harvey), and Edith (Al); brothers: Frank (Zelda), Grant, and Ken; nephews: Bob, Roger, and Glen; niece, Linda; sisters and brothers-in-law: Bernice and Dick, and Zilpha and Cliff. Shirley is survived by her husband of 70 years, Art; daughters, Judy (Gord) and Pat (Scott); son, Dale (Charlotte); grandchildren: Kaycee, Jeff, Mike (Allisha), Des (Logan), Aaron (Robi), Jeneen (Kent), Breanne (Landon), and Allison (Garrett); great-grandchildren: Madden, Mariah, Alex, Aydan, Avery, Baker, Annalee, and Maelie; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; as well as many dear friends. Shirley dearly loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held on Friday, June 28th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverhurst Community Hall. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to Central Butte Regency Manor, Box 40, Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0.
