Shirley Marlene Chartrand
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Marlene Chartrand on Friday, May 31st, 2024, at the age of 90 years. Shirley was born on a small farm in Avonlea, Saskatchewan, to parents Dorothy and Earl McIntosh, on July 8th, 1933. In her young adult years, she moved to Moose Jaw, SK where she met her husband, John Chartrand. After trying out other locations, they eventually settled in Moose Jaw where they raised their large family. Shirley remained in Moose Jaw until her final days.
Shirley’s life was marked by hustle, heart, and a heroic love for her family. She loved gardening, baking, and stories, and was a raving fan at every family member’s sporting event. In her career, she was a server, but her entire life embodied servanthood. Through her own adversities she dedicated herself to helping others regardless of where they came from or what they did. Her infectious smile and listening ear were magnetic. She was a dedicated friend, a loving sister, a nurturing parent, and a proud grandparent.
She was predeceased by her husband, John; mother, Dorothy (née: Ridgeway); father, Earl McIntosh; brother, George (Selena); sister, Norma; and daughter, Tammy. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children: Norine (Wally), Colleen, John (Cammie), Blaine (Colleen), Thane, Jamie (Amy), and Rob (Karen); grandchildren: Cherish (Nic), Crystal, Carla, Deana (Bret), Robin (Denny), Denarrah, Adam (Dorothy), Jacob, Terisse (Aaron), Brittney, Lucas, Elisa (Drayton), Emma, Bailey (Josh), and Izaac; and great-grandchildren: Cam, Ada, Carly, Mannie, Prestyn, Reese, Maxim, Tate, Aleksandar, Savo, Milanija, Gradey, Xander, River, Avery, and Ellis.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 6th, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery with Pastor Larry Hasmatali officiating. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will follow in the Harvey Room at Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
