Helmut “Amil” Scholz
Helmut “Amil” Scholz was born in Ludwigsdorf Germany, on September 5th, 1934, the only child of Alfons and Hildegarde Scholz. He and his parents immigrated to Canada in 1954. Helmut worked at many jobs- drilling wells, working in Moose Jaw Winery and as a welder at Kalium for many years. Helmut’s great passions were fishing and hunting and he spent many days every year enjoying these passions with his friends. He spent hours tying flies for his fly-fishing and was proud of each one he made. Helmut was an avid bow and rifle hunter and enjoyed archery shoots in the summer to hone his skills for the fall hunts. The highlight of his life was fulfilling his dream to hunt in Africa. He was thrilled to have accomplished this and had mounts proudly displayed at his home in the Bentley. Helmut was predeceased by his parents. He will be sadly missed by his “best friend”, Tony Oberding and family; special “grand-daughter”, Cheri Oberding as well as many of his hunting, archery and fishing buddies. Memories of Helmut will be cherished by all who knew him and will be memorialized by Ron Francis. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery following a time of fellowship in the Harvey Room. Flowers are gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Helmut’s name may be made to the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association, P.O Box 164, Moose Jaw, SK. S6H 4N8. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
