Nicholas Stephan John Proskie
With profound sadness and heartbreak, we announce the sudden passing of Nicholas Stephan John Proskie at the young age of 28 years, on Sunday, May 19th, 2024.
Nick was born on February 10th, 1996, in Calgary, AB to Richard Proskie and Dana Switzer, who had separated early in his life, and he was raised with his brother, Steffan and his dad, Richard (Marina 2 years later) until he was old enough to be on his own. He attended Prince Arthur Elementary, Peacock High School and John Chisholm in Moose Jaw, SK, where he graduated from by just signing his name. Nick lived in many provinces and many places, but home to him was always Moose Jaw, to be closer to his father. He loved hanging out with his friends and going to their houses, but fishing was his bonding time with his dad.
Those who knew him, which is many, Nick was a character, the “life of the party”. He had touched so many people who learned to love his sense of humor, laughter, and jokes. He was energetic, fun-loving, and caring, a true friend that anyone could depend on.
Nick loved trucks and trucking and worked hard to achieve his motorcycle and truck. Mostly though, he just enjoyed laughing and having fun with friends and family. He never gave up on his dreams.
Nick became involved in the trucking industry from his best friend and “brother from another mother”, Damon Hagen who introduced him to it, and he never turned back. He loved it. Nick will be extremely missed by his family, friends, and anyone that was blessed enough to meet him.
Richard, Marina, and his family would like to express their gratitude to all his friends that helped during this extremely hard time.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 7th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, 1064 3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, SK with Deacon Lamont Dyck officiating. A procession to The Crushed Can at 82 Manitoba St W will follow, where a time of fellowship will be held to honour Nick. The family would like to express their appreciation to the owner, Alex. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick’s name may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
Nick was a good kid I didn’t know him well but I’ll miss hearing about him and seeing him around the shop. Condolences to friends and family.
Prayers for comfort and the presence of joyful memories
Sincerest condolences to Nick’s family and friends. Working in Admin at Highway 9 Ag I spoke and text with him and although I never had the chance to meet him, his personality shone through. He always brought a smile and his presence will be missed.
