Nata Genevieve Seager
Nata Genevieve Seager, born January 30th, 1933 in Rockglen, SK, passed away suddenly at her home in The Bentley in Moose Jaw, SK on Monday, July 17th, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Jennie Schafer; brother, Roger; and son-in-law, Guy Prefontaine. Nata is survived by her brother, David (Darlene) Schafer of Surrey, BC; sister-in-law, Nellie Schafer of Moose Jaw, SK; husband, Ken Seager of Moose Jaw, SK; daughters, Melanie Hordenchuk (Ken Kyle) of Yorkton, SK and Nancy Prefontaine of Edmonton, AB; son, Warren (Wendy) Spagrud of Rockglen, SK; stepson, Alan of Alberta; grandchildren: Cheryl Hordenchuk (Eric Richards), Bryan (Sharla) Hordenchuk, Brooke Spagrud, Tessa Spagrud-Dixon (Jim), Letitia Prefontaine (Trevor Knoll), Angela Prefontaine (Ben Hnidan), Adam Prefontaine, and Marcia Prefontaine; great-grandchildren: Ila, Gray, Brayden, Blake, and Lyla; former husband, Thor Spagrud; son-in-law, Ritchie Hordenchuk; daughter-in-law, Maria Mercier; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Nata was a busy farm wife, raising 3 children on home-grown food and handcrafted clothing. She also had a great interest in her children’s sports, square dancing, Kinettes, cake decorating, and sewing instruction. After leaving the rural community of Rockglen she moved to Moose Jaw and worked in retail selling, you guessed it, fabric and sewing supplies. At this time her passion for dancing and church involvement was rekindled. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 21st, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 1010 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK. Ken Muirhead will officiate and interment will take place at Rockglen Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nata’s name may be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, Box 58000, Saskatoon, SK S7K 7Y4 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, Unit 26 – 1738 Quebec Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
