Mary Alice Luverne Perkin “Luverne”
Mary Alice Luverne Perkin “Luverne”, passed away peacefully with Shelly and Kenda by her side on April 29, 2024, at 89 years of age. Luverne was as stay at home mom until the children where all in school. She then took her hairdressing course in Regina and set up business in her home. Her next employment was at the Rouleau Bar. From there she was a baker at Notre Dame. Mom took a break from work when Ken passed away. She then went back to work with her daughter Lynda at Long Creek Golf Course in Avonlea. Luverne was a member of the Rouleau UCW, Rebekah Lodge and the Royal Purple. She was very active in curling, figure skating and baseball. In retirement years she enjoyed spending time at the lake watching the activity on the lake and the birds. She loved her mother/daughter getaway to Golden B.C that she took for the last seven years. Mom was so proud of all her grandchildren and loved them dearly. Mom will be greatly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Verna; husband, Ken; daughters, Lynda and Terry; brother, Gill; sister, Karen and grandson, Tyler. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ron (Jeanne), Dwight (Judy), Shelly (Paul) Gilroy, Kenda (Paul) Lunde, Cheryl (Earl) Ralph and sons-in-law, Jim (Cheryl) Pratt and Tony McGarry. Also left to remember her are her 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 13 great-grand stepchildren and 5 great-great step grandchildren. As well as sisters in law, Una Bean, Belva Perkin and Etta Sanderson; aunt, Bernice Sanderson and special nephews, John (Judy) Wall and Heath (Cynthia) Wall as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Luverne’s Life will take place on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at the Rouleau Hall. Memorial donations in Luverne’s memory may be made to Avonlea Couteau Range Manor, 210 New Warren Place Avonlea, SK. S0H 0C0 or to the Rouleau Memorial Rink Box 161, Rouleau, S0G 4H0. Luverne was my mother-in law from 42 years ago when I married her son Dwight, he became an instant step dad, Luverne became an instant grandma to my girls and then great grandma and great great grandma. You will truly be missed my heart goes out to the family and especially to my husband.
