Melvina Thiele
VINA THIELE of Regina Dove House Care Home, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 19th, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Her family has been at her side, surrounding her with love and care during her final days. Vina was born in Kensington, Prince Edward Island in 1924, the youngest of ten children to parents Maude (MacLaren) and William T. Higgins. She was predeceased by her parents, all her siblings, and her husband Zack Thiele. Proudly carrying on Vina’s enduring love of family are her six children: Pat Mann (Robert) and their children Clint Mann (Lana), Michelle Reeve (Rick), Cheryl Lansink (Brad); Tim Thiele (Colleen) and their sons Jarrod Thiele (Lacey) and Scott Thiele; Lynne Thiele; Mark Thiele (Nadine) and their children Shawn Bourassa (Kathy) and Lindsay Newsham (Cory); Susan Thiele (Roy Hilton) and their children Graham Hilton and Emily Hilton; Kathy Thiele (Neal Markewich) and their children Carey Markewich (Mandy), Kelly Markewich (Candace), and Sarah Thiele (Haroun Aboud). Vina’s great grandchildren are: Meighan and Tamra Reeve, Jacob and Matthew Mann, Kyla Lansink, Brynnley Thiele, Jordon and Brittany Bourassa, Walker and Hudson Newsham, Grayden and Luca Markewich, Christopher Sterling and Caleb Markewich, and Abrielle, Lennox, and Everly Aboud; and great-great-grandchildren Keaton and Elijah Bourassa. She was Aunt Vina and Great-Aunt Vina to hundreds who loved her. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Augusta Thiele. Memories of Vina’s early life include being raised on the “Paddyland Road” within a close, hardworking, Irish family and enjoying a warm circle of many dear neighbours and friends. Although they lived through the Depression and World War II, they did so with much courage and joy. In 1945, Vina and Zack were married and moved out west to Spring Valley, Saskatchewan to build a new home and begin their family. Vina made close ties to the people in her new community and church, and she treasured those relationships her entire life. For many summers she was able to return to visit the Higgins clan in Indian River, and was always eager to reconnect with her older sister Helen. Her children and grandchildren were also very fortunate to be able to share in some of those trips. Having her family gathered for holidays, birthdays or celebrations meant everything to Vina, and she made all those moments special for everyone. Vina was the true heart of our family. We will keep her memory alive in our hearts now. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Church of Our Lady, 560 Vaughan St, Moose Jaw, SK. Father Jake Ibay will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Vina’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and residents at Dove House for the tender care and support they have given to our Mom. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
