Peter Pisio
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Pisio aged 89 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on Sunday, December 10th, 2023. Pete was born on March 29th, 1934, in Fosston, SK to Michael and Maria (née: Kudlacz) Pisio. On July 22nd, 1956, Peter married the love of his life, Stella Roll in Wadena, Saskatchewan. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1956 for work and there they raised two kids, a son Barry and a daughter Barb. Pete was the best father, doting on his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Some of Pete’s fondest memories were with his family, camping, fishing, boating, gardening, fixing or building anything which he could accomplish without a manual – no task was too hard or too big, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Pete had an enormous, compassionate heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was kind, funny, humble, patient, loyal, loving, and a generous man. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences. He had a smile that would light up the room and a laugh that would make you laugh right along with him. Pete was a proud season ticket holder, volunteer, and supporter of the Moose Jaw Warriors for over 40 years. He had recruited many family members over the years to become season ticket holders as well.
Pete started his employment at CPR in Moose Jaw in 1956 and then CGTX (now GATX) on November 12th, 1957. He retired from CGTX on November 30th, 1994, leaving a second generation, his son Barry, to continue with his legacy – his beliefs, values, mentorship, knowledge, and work ethic – at GATX.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Maria (née: Kudlacz) Pisio; brothers: John, Alex, and Paul; sisters, Christine (Pisio) Telka and Anne (Pisio) Kikcio; and in-laws, John and Anna (née: Wrona) Roll. Pete is survived by his wife of 67 years, Stella (née: Roll) Pisio; children, Barry Pisio and Barb (Richard) Kuntz; grandchildren: Ryan (Kelli) Ripley, Devin (Sarah) Ripley, Jinelle (Jesse) Chesney, Dylan Pisio (Samantha), Tyson Pisio, and Kylin Pisio (Jillian); great-grandchildren: Peyton and Brady Ripley, Greyson and Ryleigh Ripley, and Jaydon Chesney; his remaining brothers: Andy (Olga), Nick (Virgina), and Steve (Fern); sisters-in-law: Mary (Terry) McDonnell, Vicki (Garnet) Linton, Liz Seeling, and Dianne Pisio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital MCU (2nd floor) and the Geriatric Assessment Rehab Unit at Providence Place for their excellent care and attention. The family would also like to extend many thanks to family and friends for all their continued support through this difficult time.
A Celebration of Pete’s Life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Pete’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 55 Diefenbaker Drive, Moose Jaw, SK S6J 0C2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Andrew Pratt, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
With sadness we extend our condolences to the Pisio family. Peter was my first boss, as I worked with him at CGTX. He was a great mentor at any task. He had a knowledge for anything that came up in the day’s work. He remained a good friend after I left CGTX and always went out of his way to talk over old times when we met. He certainly will be missed.

Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with you all.
Sending my hugs to you Stella Barry barb and your families we had many good times together Pete has joined his brothers and sisters and may they all have a great Christmas bless you all and keep the memories
Uncle Pete. I’ve sat here staring at my computer screen trying to think of something to say. I didn’t want to just rehash parts of what others have already said. So, I figured I’d do something different. I can’t lie and say you where my Favourite Uncle, because my Dad’s brothers where all my favourite Uncles. We all have grown up and there have been large gaps in everyone seeing each other. However, I still my remember my youth and all the visits out of Saskatoon to visit my extended family of cousins. It was usually for weddings, which where always a happy time. I remember mixing 7-UP and Coke so it would look like I was drinking &-up and Rye. alas those times are gone and now only exist in our memories. But with memories as great as we’ve had, it will be very hard to forget. Now it seems our families only get together for funerals. maybe we’ll all start meeting again when the grandchildren start getting married, and we can relive the fond memories of the past, and make new and wonderful memories to remember. Uncle Pete, you may have left this world, but you will always be in our hearts and minds.
Our condolences and deepest sympathy to you Auntie Stella, Barb, Barry and families. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
Mary & Terry McDonnell
Stella, Barry, & Barb.
We send our deepest condolences on your loss. The most meaningful comment you could make about about Pete is
“he was a good man” and even that seems so inadequate at this time. We loved him very much and think about all the good times we had together. Whenever he visited us in Montreal, New Brunswick & Guelph he always asked us to keep a job jar of things that needed to be done and he was always happy to empty that jar. His knowledge and skills
were amazing. He could build or fix anything.
We miss him greatly
Our thoughts are with Auntie Stella, Barb, Barry and their families. Uncle Pete will be remembered for his ability to fix or rebuild anything, for anyone. He was a generous man who loved to laugh. He will be missed but never forgotten!
I’m so sad you’re gone Uncle Pete My fondest memories of my childhood were asking you where the pedal on the boat was and mixing your favourite drink of Lemon Gin………….. you will be missed immensely and I will think of you often
Uncle Pete was a larger than life figure in my life. He seemingly could do it all. Build, fix, solve, catch, clean, laugh, help. I never saw him frustrated nor angry. He was the most involved and active uncle in my life and the one whom I try to use as the template for my activities as an uncle. I couldn’t have had a better example to follow.
