Edwin Cecil Verity
Legacy Well Lived
March 15, 1938 – July 6, 2017
It can be said that Edwin lived his life in a way that left a mark on many. Ed was born in Lampman, SK on March 15, 1938 to Cecil and Ethel Verity. Life became increasingly eventful as six additional children were welcomed into the family. Cecil and Ethel eventually settled in Moose Jaw and in the years that followed, young Edwin had frequent opportunities to join his father as he worked on the railroad, cultivating Edwin’s deep appreciation for trains. Tragedy struck when Edwin’s father passed away suddenly and although Ed was only 15 years old, he learned to care sacrificially for others, nurturing compassion and wisdom far beyond his years. These character traits helped forge his legacy as a man who showed love, acceptance and care to everyone. In 1958, Edwin met the love of his life, Grace, and later asked her to become his bride. Soon after their wedding, the happy couple moved to Regina where Ed began his employment at Rittenburg and Associates, a firm at which he worked loyally for over 35 years. Ed and Grace had two children Richard and Verna, whom he cherished deeply. Besides being a loving husband and father, Ed was a great leader, putting his leadership skills to work by serving on the Regina Apostolic Church and Kedleston Camp boards. Ed left his mark wherever he went and it was Regina’s loss when he and Grace moved back to Moose Jaw in 2002, where they have since resided until God took Edwin home. As in typical fashion, Ed stepped up to serve and became treasurer of their Crestview Men’s Social Club. He will truly be missed by many. Edwin is predeceased by his parents Cecil and Ethel, and siblings Earl and Arlene. He is survived by wife, Grace; daughter, Verna (Graham, Lisa, Evan); son, Richard and wife Darla (Emma, Johnathan); brothers, Gary (Carol), Rae (Linda), Roy (Pat), Howard (Wendy), and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 11th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Apostolic Church, 1550 Main Street North, Moose Jaw, SK. with Pastor Steve Atkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s name can be made to Kedleston Gospel Camp https://kedlestongospelcamp.sunergo.net/secure/cr_front_donation.taf Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
