JAMES ROBERT LAYBOURNE
James (Jim) Robert Laybourne, cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday October 3rd, 2023 at Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK. He was predeceased by his parents, James Henry and Myrtle (Ector) Laybourne. Jim was born on May 25th, 1953 in Central Butte, SK and grew up on a farm North of Tugaske, SK. Jim married Ellen Mulholland on April 16th, 1977 and they began cattle and grain farming North of Tugaske. In the early 90’s Jim began trucking and started his own trucking company, Laybourne Trucking. Jim loved animals, especially his dog Socks who travelled everywhere with him. He enjoyed visiting with people he met and enjoyed joking with them. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ellen Laybourne; daughters, Nicole Laybourne (Orlando Silva Fuentes) and Kathleen (Doug) Gessner; granddaughter, Shawna Gessner (Steve Brown); and brothers, John Laybourne (Dawn Bennett) and Elvin Laybourne. Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Thank you to the friends and family who came to visit Jim while in hospital. Thank you for your calls and prayers. Thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Regina General Hospital, Pasqua Hospital, and the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital.
A Private Celebration of Jim’s Life will take place at a later date. In memory of James Robert Laybourne, donations may be made to The Moose Jaw Humane Society, Box 1658 Station Main, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 7K7 or to the Moose Jaw Salvation Army, 175 – 1st Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 0Y9. So very sorry Ellen and girls to hear of Jim’s passing. Back in the day, Jim and Dad had many a good time together both professionally and recreationally. Dad(Grant Torgerson) thought highly of Jim always. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all at this very difficult time.
