WALTER WESLEY SEIDA
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Walter Seida, on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 with his loving family by his side.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter; mother, Anna (Dietrich); son, Peter (2006); seven sisters and six brothers. Walter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne (Bixby) Seida; children: Lori (Kevin), Steven (Tammy), Kevin, and Marie (Jeff); grandchildren: Tiphany (Jesse), Justin (Ariel), Jacob (Paige), Jesse (Dessey), Sebastian (Hannah), Benjamin, Kaleb (Alena) and Jorja; great-grandchildren: Denim, Mesten, Oakland, Juniper, and one on the way; sister, Vicki (George); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Walter was born on January 15th, 1939 in Spring Valley, Saskatchewan, the youngest of seven boys and the thirteenth child to Peter and Anna. As a young buck, Walter travelled to Alberta to start his first career as an Iron worker, then as a linesman for Calgary power. From there he met and married Sue, together they moved to Thorhild and pursued his love of farming and raising cattle. Years later they settled in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where he and Sue continued to farm, raise cattle and garden. Walter was best known as a local elk and cattle rancher/famer with a green thumb; he could make any plant thrive.
Walter was a loving husband, father, grandpa, uncle and brother with a deep love for family connection and he will be missed dearly.
A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate his life at a later date this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Walter’s name may be made to Cornerstone Christian School, 43 Iroquois St E, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 4S9.
