Celia Mae Schroeder
It is with great sadness, tinged with joy, we announce that Celia Mae Schroeder, aged 89 years of West Park Crossing in Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on Monday, November 29th, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents and three sisters: Laura (Tom) Wellwood, Aileen Vivian, and Kathleen Joiner. Celia is survived by her husband Werner, who was her devoted companion for over 60 years. She is also survived by her brother, Ken (Sharon) McAndrew of Abbotsford, BC; special niece, Jeannie (Gordon) Hamilton of Pickering, ON; several nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Celia was born in the Birch Hills district of Saskatchewan in the summer of 1932. She came to Caronport to attend the Bible Institute where she also met Werner. After graduation and marriage, they returned to the Bible Institute to work in various capacities. Together they served in the administration offices at the Briercrest College and Seminary at Caronport, SK for several decades. Werner is remembered for his meticulous bookkeeping and sound engineering; Celia is remembered for a wide, gracious, and welcoming smile, usually accented with a touch of kindness as she served customers and visitors. Over the years Celia established many long-time friendships with both staff and students alike. They continued to live in their Caronport home for many more years after retirement. As age took its toll, they spent two years at Furrows and Faith Care Home in Mossbank, SK and then transitioned to West Park Crossing. In the past several months and as her health deteriorated, God saw Celia getting frail and tired, so He put His arms around her and whispered “Come be with Me”. Her recent frailty has been replaced by everlasting joy as she is welcomed into her eternal home with Jesus whom she loved and served. Celia will be dearly missed, especially by her husband who was her constant friend. Family and friends would like to express heartfelt thanks to the management and staff at West Park Crossing in Moose Jaw for their kind and untiring care for Celia over the past 3 years. A Service to honour Celia’s life will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations in Celia’s name may be made to the Briercrest College and Seminary, 510 College Drive, Caronport, SK S0H 0S0. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550

We remember Celia with so much fondness. She was always so kind and helpful. We are so sorry to hear of your loss of her from this earthly realm, but so moved by the truth of her new reality as expressed in the above statement. May God be constant as always in His comfort to you all.
Her picture is exactly as I remember her. Being a staff kid, she always had time to talk with me. She was kind and always had a happy disposition. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Going to be singing and rejoicing with a whole lot of other saints
We remember Celia and Warner as they came to our Christmas programs at Coteau Hills and the times they stopped for chats on their way past our yard, always asking after our family. Celia called Megan Pebbles which made us all
chuckle. We enjoyed their gracious company as we went for meals together in Moose Jaw after they had both retired. Praying for Warner as he faces her absence now. We know one day, we’ll all be together, as neighbours again. Sorrowing with you Warner. Love you.
Dear Werner,
Bonnie & I are saddened to hear of Celia’s passing. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
Many wonderful memories of the early days at Caronport when the port family was small and dependent on each other on a daily basis. Celia was always fun to be around, whether working in the office or the store or laundry. Her radiant smile and infetious laugh will always be remembered. Arlys
Werner, So sorry to hear that Celia has left us. My memories of her will always be of a gracious woman with a smiling disposition. The two of you were very kind & helpful to my Mom Vanstone, especially after Dad was gone. May you feel God’s comfort surrounding you in the days to come until we meet again.
Celia and Werner were such a gentle, kind and loving presence in my life during my years at Briercrest/Caronport. I have such fond memories of their warmth, acceptance and hospitality.,They truly were open to being my home away from home as I needed it. My last time in their home was visiting them with my aging mom, as I took her for a drive from Regina. They prepared a wonderful lunch and we had a sweet visit with them. They had many Port Children, link me, and gave love and hospitality so generously in their kind, quiet way.
I am so sorry for your loss. Celia always had a smile and a a cheerful word for you. May God comfort you at this time.
My condolences, Werner & to the family. Both you & Celia were so kind & loving & always ready to open your home & your hearts to many. I enjoyed working with you, Werner, in the office. Always loved Celia’s smile & enjoyed many good laughs & sharing times with her.

We were one of the many friends Werner and Celia had from Caronport. We had lots of laughs and good times together for which we will always be thankful. I’m sure we will have many more for eternity in heaven.
First got to know the Schroeders when we moved to Sparrow Gardens at Caronport in 1968. They lived in the front corner by the door we went through on way to class, then later when they had their beautiful home Celia was a gracious hostess when I brought my income tax over for Werner to figure out. She went along with some of us ladies when we went on a weekend retreat one time and it was a really fun time. Celia & Aunt Laura were both special and its nice they can be together again. Our thoughts & prayers are with you.
Our deepest condolences to you Werner as you grieve the passing of dear Celia. How we enjoyed the two of you during our time in Caronport. Celia was such a sweet kind lady and had a smile for everyone! We loved to see you our for your walks chatting with folks as you went along. God bless you as you walk this journey of joyful sadness.
