Roseanna Shopa
1927-2006
Roseanna passed away at Central Butte Regency Hospital on December 21 st, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Roseanna was born at the farm on December 16 th , 1927 to Annie and Waldymir Shopa. She attended Pine Lake School for the first nine years and then Convent of Sion in Moose Jaw for Grs. 10,11 & 12. From September 1946 to January 1947 she attended Moose Jaw Normal School and began her teaching career at St. Mary’s in Moose Jaw February 1947. She received her Bachelor of Education in 1961 and Bachelor of Arts in 1966. After 36 1/2 years of teaching she retired in 1983. Some of the schools she taught were St. Mary’s, St. Johanne’s (Kronau), Knowleside, Lady Bank, Laura Secord, Secretan, Herbert, Chaplin High School, Hodgeville High School, Ernfold, Fort Smith N.W.T., Qu’Appelle Residential (Lebret), John Chisholm, Bushell Park, King Edward and Ross School in Moose Jaw. Upon retirement she spent the last 23 years at the family farm with her brothers Tom & Fred. Roseanna was predeceased by her mother and father, baby sister, sister Olga Kruzelnicki, brother Alec, brothers-in-law: Gordon May & Lloyd Fjaagesund, and nephew Martin Fjaagesund. She will be remembered and missed by sisters: Pearl Fjaagesund, Lillian May, and Violet (Sam) Dzurka. Brothers: Bill (Marnie), Tom & Fred and many nieces & nephews and their families. Prayer Service will take place on Wednesday, December 27 th , 2006 at 3:00 P.M. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane . Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church north of Valjean , Sask. , on Thursday, December 28 th , 2006 at 1:30 p.m. Fr. Yurij Lazurko will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Drs. Ramadan, Majid & Miller, the nurses & staff at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital . Also the Drs., nurses & staff at the Central Butte Regency Hospital for the wonderful care she received. Special thanks to Calvin Gammel and Basil Forsberg for their caring concern & professional help.
