Seward, Alfred

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Al Seward at the age of 94 years on Thursday, January 4th, 2018.  Al was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Eva after 57 years of marriage; parents, Mary and Arthur; and siblings, Eileen and Harry.  His memory will be lovingly remembered by his children: Rick (Jen), Wendy (Jim) Phillips, Linda (Dave) VanDuyne, David, Melanie (Ken) Carter, Lisa (Bill) Lawson, and Shirley Seward; grandchildren: Neil, Colin, Jamie, Adrienne, Kate, Sarah, Jennifer, Rebecca, Matthew, Meghan and Daniel; seventeen great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  Al was born in the lakeside community of Nakusp, British Columbia on February 28th, 1923.  There he married the love of his life, Eva, on the 4th of June 1949.  Al spent his early twenties as a wartime pilot and was recalled to the RCAF for a long flying career in the military.  This was followed by years of water-bombing in Canada and abroad.  Eva’s love of the prairies brought them to Moose Jaw in 1979.  Initially Al opened the Windsor Plywood franchise and became well known in the community as a skilled wood worker.  Al became a resident of Providence Place in January of 2013.  He loved the staff at Providence Place and the family is so appreciative of the compassionate care and support he was given until his passing.  The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Seaborg officiating.  As an expression of sympathy, donations in Al’s name may be made to Providence Place Foundation Inc, 100 – 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.  Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550
